The palace’s foundation began in 1880 under orders from Vizir Sidi Moussa, then head of the Moroccan kingdom. He wanted a luxury resort to please one of his lovers, he thus presented her with a palace containing about 160 rooms, this must explain the nickname given to the structure, « The Palace of the Beauty ».

Visit the El Badi Palace built at the end of the 16th century, this ancient palace was commissioned by the sultan Ahmed al-Mansur Dahbi to celebrate his victory against the Portuguese army, in 1578, in the Battle of the Three Kings. Late afternoon, walk around the souks and the famous Djamel El-Fna square, a landmark in the heart of the city. In 2001, “the cultural space of Jmaa El Fna” was designated by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity, a meeting point for people of the desert and mountains.
